The David L. Lawrence Convention Center’s management and staff are dedicated to green practices including recycling, conservation and waste reduction. This environmental commitment is actively communicated to meeting and event planners as well as visitors who are encouraged to participate in our green practices.
The David L. Lawrence Convention Center is equipped and trained to handle any and all materials entering the building from recycling plastics and glass to composting food waster and wooden pallets.

How does the Convention Center conserve resources/energy?
- Our water reclamation system reduces potable water use by over 50%
- Our natural ventilation system eliminates the need for artificial heating and cooling of the space
- Our energy use is optimized through a temperature monitoring system
- 75% of the Convention Center’s exhibition space is lit by natural daylight
- Our daylight sensors reduce the need for artificial light and thereby reducing energy consumption
- Our left-over food is donated to local food banks
